But first, an important question…

Will AI replace our work in SEO?

I’ve been asked this in multiple ways over the last few months. Here is my theory: humans crave connection with other humans. Therefore, even though certain parts of doing SEO can be automated and completed by AI, you still want to use your human brain, heart and intuition to create content and make marketing decisions in your business.

What a tool like ChatGPT doesn’t have its experience and opinions. I talk more about this in this workshop I did on E-E-A-T here: https://courses.digitalbloomiq.com/infusing-e-e-a-t-into-your-website

So my question is …what parts of SEO do you want the most support in?

In this blog post, I give you a few ideas on how to use ChatGPT more effectively for your SEO, but just doing an initial brain dump of how to use this tool can be great.

Different ways to use ChatGPT for SEO

Here is a list of ideas on how you can use ChatGPT for specific SEO tasks.

1) Market Research

Understanding your audience’s needs can be so so powerful, and ChatGPT can help you with that. Asking it questions about what our ideal clients are searching for, what type of businesses need our services, and how we can better serve our audience can be amazing.

2) Generating SEO values like Title and Meta Description Tags

So many of our clients struggle with writing Title and Meta Description tags. ChatGPT to the rescue!

The tool can help you write multiple Title tags (and then make some final tweaks for yourself). Make sure what you end up with aligns with your brand voice (sometimes, the ideas it outputs can be very cheesy).

Here is a list of SEO tags you can ask ChatGPT to help you with:

  • Title

  • Meta Description

  • Headings

  • Alt Tags

  • URL structure

3) Writing blog posts (hello!)

This is especially exciting for those (myself included!) who struggle with writer's block or need that initial push to write content for our blogs and websites.

Long-form content can sometimes feel like a very different vibe than what we are used to for writing social media or email newsletters.

I don’t recommend just copying and pasting an entire blog post from the tool. We recommend adding your unique touch to make it more valuable to your audience - yes, we want to hear YOUR VOICE!

Another way to have ChatGPT help you with writing blog posts is by asking it to generate an outline for you to write from since having that initial structure can be helpful.

4) Improving existing blog post

Another exciting way to use the tool is by giving it a content piece you’ve already written and asking it to review it for SEO, including how to add more specific keyword phrases.

This can be helpful if you struggle to put keywords in a blog post, and AGAIN, I recommend proceeding with caution not to overdo it since you can get penalized for spamming your blog content.

5) Keyword Research

The last way I recommend using ChatGPT for your SEO is by asking it for keyword ideas. It will even pull up a table of volume/competition data (although you want to cross-check it with other SEO tools).

Even asking ChatGPT what your ideal audience is searching for on a specific topic can complement the market research prompts above.

How to not feel all over the place when writing for your blog and using AI at the same time

Maybe you feel awkward using something like AI because you don’t want to lose your creativity or your special connection with your audience.

The good news is you can decide how much (or little) you integrate AI into your content writing process.

I don’t necessarily use ChatGPT in every single post, but if I’m feeling a little stuck or need help in a specific area, that’s when I open up a tool. I think of it as my little writing assistant, ready at any time of the day to give me ideas, rewrite sections, spell check and get me going on the task.

Hopefully, the above blog post gives you enough ideas to get started but feel free to message me on Instagram for more ideas.
